MDS Consulting (“MDS”) is a planning, engineering, and surveying firm serving the coastal, inland, and desert communities of Southern California, with offices located in Irvine (corporate and main office) and Palm Desert.
MDS was founded in 1977 and has provided consulting planning, engineering, and surveying services to private and public clients for the intervening forty-nine years.
Dedicated to a corporate philosophy which integrates imagination, technical excellence and a commitment to service, MDS creates design solutions which respond to the increasingly complex environmental, economic and social issues.
MDS has nurtured successful relationships with private developers and governmental agencies based on mutual respect and an acute understanding of each other’s needs. The firm now employs a staff of nearly forty experienced professionals ready to meet the challenge of developing creative planning and innovative engineering solutions that satisfy the needs of the client, demands of the market, and requirements of the governmental agencies.

Planning
MDS Consulting provides a comprehensive and creative approach to land use planning which considers the clients' goals and objectives, environmental constraints and social issues, community concerns and local real estate market conditions. Our working knowledge of the latest trends in architecture, product design and construction methods combine to develop sound planning concepts.
Working closely with governmental agencies to facilitate entitlement approvals, our years of experience and an understanding of governmental processes and current planning issues contribute to the development of a responsible plan that can be expedited through the agency approvals. The multi-disciplined approach to planning at MDS also incorporates engineering feasibility of our concepts during the process. Engineering
The goal of the engineering process at MDS Consulting is to create technically sound and cost-effective solutions that meet each client's schedules and objectives, while incorporating the latest design principles, construction techniques and materials.
The Principals and professional staff at MDS reflect a depth and diversity of civil engineering experience which has been applied to projects ranging from large master planned communities and destination resorts to smaller urban infill projects. Our experience also includes public works projects in the areas of feasibility analysis, engineering design and project management.
Central to our success in engineering is our ''design team'' approach. Based on the needs and technical demands of each project, we assemble a design team that is tailored to the project and client. Each team is headed by a professional engineer who functions as the project manager and client liaison and reports to a Principal of the company. The team also includes specialists experienced in the various aspects of design required for the project. The result is a responsive project team that ensures coordination, continuity and cost effectiveness from start to finish.
MDS also remains committed to investing in advancements in engineering technology, including software and computers developed to save time and costs related to engineering tasks and plan preparation.
Direct Principal involvement, the design team concept and the commitment to technological advancement combine at MDS to provide the highest level of productivity and service available resulting in successful projects completed on time and within budget.
Surveying
Surveying and mapping services provide both the solid foundation and the successful completion of project at MDS Consulting. At the beginning of a project, the initial research of records, title analysis, boundary surveying and topographic mapping are combined to establish the physical constraints used in the land planning process and to determine the controlling factors for the design of infrastructure. Thorough and accurate base information is an important part in the feasibility analysis and the future success of a project. The surveying and mapping professionals at MDS are informed of the goals and expectations for the project at the beginning, which ensures that the base data will be collected and presented in a form that best suits the design effort.
As a full-service company, the design process at MDS always considers the eventual construction phase of a project. During the preparation of plans and base data, we utilize methods that will facilitate the completion of our construction surveying services in a timely, cost effective manner. Our survey management and field professionals work closely with the client's construction team to structure a scope of services that meets the project's goals and schedule.

Subdivision/Land Development Engineering
MDS Consulting is currently seeking Engineers, Designers, and Draftspersons. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in residential/land development design and be proficient in AutoCAD (Civil 3D is a plus).
Salary ranges: RCE: $125k-$150k; Designer: $90k-$125k; Draftsperson: $70k-$90k
